Robert Torres is a percussionist and composer from Albuquerque, New Mexico. While in New Mexico, he was deeply immersed in the local music scene, collaborating with University of New Mexico students and local musicians across a wide variety of genres, from honky-tonk to hardcore and classical music. His performances have ranged from orchestra halls to dimly lit basements, with engagements spanning impromptu bar gigs to full-length studio album recordings. While attending The University of New Mexico, Robert studied with Scott Ney, Jeff Cornelius, Mo Roberts, and Mark Clark.

Joining the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic percussion section in Fall 2024
Participating in a 2024 Lunar Eclipse concert alongside William Shatner and IU’s choral ensemble, NOTUS
The 2024 premiere of his composition “Aerials” by the IU Percussion Ensemble
Performing with IU’s percussion ensemble at the 2023 Percussive Arts Society International Convention, in a showcase celebrating the International Percussion Ensemble Competition winners
Appearing as a “Bucket Basher” in a 2023 episode of Nickelodeon’s live-action series “Really Loud House”
Currently, Robert is a graduate student at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where he studies under percussionists Joseph Gramley, Kevin Bobo, John Tafoya, Andy Miller, and Sean Dobbins.
